Wedding Dress
Happy Bride twirling in her custom made wedding gown She had always wanted a 50's style wedding dress, but to her dismay could find nothing in the bridal shops. She came to me with some pictures from magazines of styles she thought were close to what she wanted. After in depth consultations and a few fittings, the picture says more about how happy she was with the results than I could.
The front and back view are showing the slightly off the shoulder neckline, wonderfully fitted bodice with the full skirt and the elbow length veil. The head piece was the head piece from her grandmothers wedding and although it had yellowed with age we were able to soften the color by covering it with the tulle used in the veil itself.
Spartan Queen Costumes
Three of the Spartan Queen's dresses from the movie “The 300” for a 2009 Renaissance Fair. The custom made costume was created from a set of pictures from the web.
When researching these costumes I found that I had to guess on some elements since you were never given a full view of the dresses in the movie.
Mink Coat Alterations
This client was not using her mink because it was too long. She wanted more of a car coat length for everyday. We cut off the length and re hemmed to give her something much more useful.
The detailed picture shows the care and special handling the furs need. The techniques are slightly different than regular sewing .
A mink stole that was a hand down from a beloved mother needed a new lining. The original monogram also fell apart but the daughter still wanted that monogram. So we recreated it and sewed it back into the new lining.
Black Dress
A student came to me with a drawing of a dress she wanted to try to make. This dress is basically tubular and could be worn many different ways. Shown here is the front and back of one suggested style. If you have a drawing and you want to try to create it call Claudia at 631-727-1550 ext 1# and we can do it together.
Jedi Robe
Claudia modeling a custom made Star Wars® Jedi Robe. This robe was constructed from instructions that the client had acquired on-line with slight alterations.
Beaded Wedding Dress Alteration
Front and Back view of the finished wedding dress alteration. The dress originally was a bit too big. I had to take in the side seams to adjust the dress down to her size. The alteration required me to remove all the beads involved near the seam.
Then after the alterations are done to fit the Bride I have to sew the pattern of beads back on the dress the same as it looked before.
Also I checked to make sure all the rest of the beading was intact. When dresses get tried on in the store the beading usually suffers. It was a success, the bride loved it and it fit perfect.
